2.4.2 Recolors, Blue posts, Fan arts
Patch 2.4.2 : Zhevra Mount & Mace Recolor
Most of the time when a new patch is released, a few item recolors are added to the game. These recolors are here if devs need a "fast" way to add an item and just want to use a different color of an existing model (and actually it doesn't happen very often if you compare it to the amount of recolors available). Two additional "sets" of colors have been added with the 2.4.2 : One for the new "Zhevra mount" and another one for one of the 2H Mace model already available in the game files. Thanks to endarion for the work he did on these screenshots !
As usual, we don't even know if these new colors will be used in the game at some point (and actually we're not even sure if the Zhevra Mount will be here), but it's still fun to check them.
Blue posts
During the last few days I didn't report any blue post because of all the 2.4.2 updates, even if there wasn't anything really important you might find a few of them interesting.
We haven't completely finalized a number, but we plan to have them start at a level lower than 70. We didn't have Draenei or Blood Elves start at a higher level when they first entered the game so we are aiming to make this Hero Class at a good level to learn abilities but also get to Northrend a little faster. I understand that it may not be your favorite part, but leveling is part of the game, especially when creating a new character. The extra boost in leveling should help introduce the epic-ness (is that a word?) of the first Hero Class and give people more of a chance to try it out. While they may be a little behind in leveling, Deathknights will find their way into raid groups too, just like Shaman and Paladins did for the Alliance and Horde when they were first introduced. Hunter Pet Growl Change
Growl was scaling incorrectly before so it's been changed to scale with the hunter's AP starting at around 1200 AP. Other pet abilities such as bite, claw, etc will still scale with pet AP. (Source)
Arena Tournament : Penalty for adding players to a team
With phase 2 beginning today, records have been reset and there is a penalty for adding players to a team. The practice phase has ended and now the fighting matters. You can still create a new team, you'll just have to earn the point penalties back, so good luck in your matches if that's the case! When phase 3 begins the teams will be locked and no changes allowed. (Source)
Will there be a new currency system in WotLK ? (Something with a higher value than gold ?)
We do watch the economy of the game but we don't have any plans of changing the current setup right now. (Source)
Season 4 and Tournament Phase 2 posts
First, we've got a post from Drysc to explains which items are going to be available once the season 4 is here.
There will be two sets of "non-set" items once Season 4 begins. The Season 4 honor items (boot/belt/bracer/etc) some of which will require a rating, and the Season 3 items (boot/belt/bracer/etc) which still won't require any rating.
Just to sum up, when Season 4 begins:
Season 1 honor set: Removed
Season 2 arena set: Moved to honor, no rating requirement
Season 3 non-set honor items: Staying
Season 3 arena set: Arena rating and cost requirements lowered
Season 4 non-set honor items: Added with rating requirement
Season 4 arena set: Added to Arena with increased rating requirement
So, with them being arena items intended to fill out the current top-end arena set, and our increase to rating requirements all around, it's actually very logical.

Season 4 rating requirements increased ?
This time, the news is much bigger, according to two season 4 items activated on the official armory, the personal rating requirements on shoulders has been increased to 2200. For the moment we don't know yet if it's a definitive change, or if the requirements on weapons have been increased as well.
This also means that we've got the stats of 2 additional season 4 items. Below are the stats gathered during the testing phase of the patch.
Other item stats
Very important note : Most of these items have "outdated" stats, the armor on the sets should be slightly higher. The only armor set up-to-date with the latest version of the PTR is the Paladin one. Keep in mind that all of them are from PTRs and could have been changed since then.

WotLK changes, Tournament Q&A, Badge vendor

Rogue and Paladin changes in WotLK
Dagger rogues and retribution paladins will get some love, however there won't be any class changes before the release of Wrath of the Lich King.
We have mentioned in the past that we would like to improve Retribution Paladins in Wrath of the Lich King, we just don't have a lot of specific details to release regarding this right now. We did say we plan on changing how their abilities work to share gear with warriors which will help make it easier for them to gear up though. (Source)
Dagger rogues
We understand that daggers need a bit of improvement and plan to improve them. Currently though there are other options for doing damage for the Rogue so it is not like all options are blocked, but like I said, we are aware of this issue. (Source)
Classes changes before the expansion
We currently don't have any plans to make big changes to any class before Wrath of the Lich King. (Source)
Hunter - Charge affecting Growl is a bug
Sad news for all the hunters using a boar in solo PvE, your pet will be nerfed in a future patch.
Expect this to be changed in a future patch. If you disagree with this change please post about it in the suggestions or class forums.
Arena tournament Q&A
Bornakk answered a lot of questions related to the Arena Tournament on the official forums.
We were adding in as many enchants and items as possible based on what arena players were using and what players who helped test the Tournament system requested, we must have missed these. We’re currently looking to see if we can get these added in, but currently it doesn’t look like they’ll make it into the Tournament. (Source)
The tournament details mentioned world pvp, and so far you cant kill an opposite faction at all. Is this coming?
We did remove the note that mentioned World PvP when it was decided to take it out. World PvP requires a lot of players to be in the same area at the same time which would lead people away from the Arenas and we want to keep people focused on the Arena games. The more people queuing up the better for everybody really. (Source)
Why are 2v2 and 5v5 games available on the Tournament Realm ?
The 2v2 and 5v5 games are still offered as we want to provide players with more options to enjoy while playing on the Tournament realms. If you have extra friends that are online (or fewer) you can play the other games and still battle your heart or even try some new things for fun. We will continue to monitor the queues and make changes as we are able to though (Source)
When will all ratings reset to 1500 (end of the practice period) ?
The practice period will end on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 when the servers go down for maintenance and at this time, all teams will be reset to 1500 rating. (Source)
When do we need 200 games by?
The 200 games must be played by the end of the first qualifier which is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 when the servers go down for maintenance. Players will have 4 weeks to play the 200 games that count toward their final rating. The same length of time will apply to the second qualification round though the dates for the second qualification will obviously be different. (Source)
If i have 3 characters, Am I allowed to play with 3 groups ? One group for each character?
If you have three characters you can be on three different teams, however, you will only be eligible to qualify for the regionals with one team. If you happen to have two teams that qualify, you will have to pick one to play. (Source)
When will we be kicked out of the tournament if we don't have enough games or a high enough rating?
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 is when the first round of qualification completes. You will have to re-register to continue to take part in the Tournament Realm past this date. (Source)
Do I need to have my group formed at the end of the period of practice?
It is best to have your team formed and ready at the end of the practice period and before Phase 2 of the Tournament begins (which is when actual rankings begin) because your team will lose 150 rating for each team member added during this phase. (Source)
Approximately what rating is needed to advance to Stage 2?
There is no numerical value we can attach to this question right now. It depends on how well players do and where they are at when the four week period finishes. (Source)
50 Characters limit and Arena Tournament Realm
Keep in mind the 50 characters per account restriction still applies to the new Tournament Realms. You will want to check your total and possibly delete a single character and see if you can then create a new one on the Tournament Realm of your choice. (Source)

WoTLK: Goodbye LVL70 dungeons?
We don't have any plans to update old content for level 80 players. Instead we plan to provide lots of brand new content for our players to go through in Wrath of the Lich King. We talked about the dungeons a bit in the next BlizzCast too, so stay tuned. (Source)
Any chance of introducing heroic versions of "classic" dungeons in WotLK ? Like Heroic Stratholme ?
We don't have any plans currently to do this. But the Caverns of Time: Stratholme dungeon will let you experience that dungeon in a whole new way at least. (Source)
Will AQ40 Bug Mounts useable outside the dungeon at some point ?
We have seen requests for this in the past but we don't have any plans currently to implement this and they were never intended to be used outside of the dungeon they dropped in. (Source)
Armory update frequency
The Armory updates on a continuous basis, there are just some issues we are continuing to work on ironing out where some things are missed in this process. Generally speaking I've seen my characters' profiles updated within 2-3 hours of when I log out. (Source)

我知道,我们必须谈恋爱。恋爱是两个人的事,到了一定年龄之后,便谁也回避不了啦,非但回避

大约只有出家人是不谈恋爱的,我想并非是对恋爱本身有什么特别的成见,而是害怕影响他们难得的

能不能接受,也就是这样了。也许你的确很冤枉,可是你到哪能里去喊冤呢?认命吧,就算你终于得到一
个理想的分数,通过了评审团这一关,也不要高兴得太早,这只是个开始,只是初试合格,更严格的考核
还在后面,今后的日子里,你每一天起床的第一件事就是反复地询问自己:“我该拿什么去爱你”,多一
虚张声势反思,有什么不周不到之处,趁青春年少,赶快进取吧。
“可是,你知道我有多爱她吗?我所有的都给她了,还要我怎么样?”只要稍有疏忽,稍微对她有一些

的指挥刀拔了出来,握在手,睁大一双红色眼睛,直奔情敌的住宅而去。街上行人都好奇地敬而避之,以

和我们每一个人一样,所有关于动刀动枪的事情都是从电影电视里看来的。这个时候,他什么也没做,同
样的瞪着两只大眼却空空荡荡,先前那么多的愤怒、抱怨与仇恨一时间荡然无存,不晓得顺着冰冷的刀锋
溜到哪里去了。
足足有三四分钟罢,三个人静默着,汗珠从三个人额头上慢慢渗出,指挥刀有一些颤抖了,不知是我
的朋友握刀的手在抖还是情敌的身体在抖,抑或两者都是。女孩子合乎情理地哭了,却无声,泪尽淌。
还是朋友终于说话了,声音很小,一字一顿: “你,要,好,好,待,她。”然后他收刀而回,恰
如小说里描写的那样,回家的路很长很长,不知他走了多久,才像一个泄了气了皮球一样,散坐到自己家

时候,才理会到身边的漂亮女生真的好多但可以属于自己的却真的太少。这是一个彻底竞争的时代,什么
都在竞争,其中毫不例外地包括了爱情。
看看我们竞争对手吧,首当其冲的便是那些外国人,他们比当年的八国联军还厉害,八国联军是无恶
不作的强盗,如今的鬼佬们却是道貌岸然的偷心圣手,他们一边挣着我们的人民币,一边吸引着漂亮的中
国女孩子。据说许多中国女孩子渴望跟着他们能够出国,但她们也不想想,如果外面真的有如想像那么好
,这些鬼佬们跑到中国来干什么呢?显然他们并不是来观光旅游的。

Epics replaced by Greens in WotLK
Items in WotLK will be powerful enough to fill the gap between high-end raiders and new players who want to join them once they're level 80, however the difference shouldn't be as big as what we saw between BC and WoW Classic because it looks like Blizzard doesn't plan to change any major stat like what they did with Stamina.
Keep in mind that the availability of higher level items is greater than it was before the launch of The Burning Crusade.
There was also a change in how much Stamina items got when The Burning Crusade came out and the new items should maintain the consistency they have now and not jump up a huge margin. (Source)

UICentral discontinued
According to a post on worldofwar.net, UICentral has been discontinued and if you're one of the many players using it you should consider uninstalling the software. Below is the explanation posted by the admins on the site.

A heads-up to UIC users. UICentral, as created by site member Amthea, has been pulled from the site as it has come to light that there was a copyright infringment inside the application code. An unlicensed key was utilised to create a part of the application, and so to act responsibly, and protect the party invovled, we have pulled the file from the website.
We are dissapointed that this has occured but at the same time pleased that this has been brought to our attention as we do not condone such practices.
With this in mind we are looking to create our own application in-house so that this can not occur in the future. Work will begin immediatly on the new application for mod updating. Thanks to everyone for being so patient while we investigated and checked through everything. We'll update you soon.

In a nutshell, he used a cracked version of a Java app and got caught. In turn, they threatened to take "legal action" against the site unless it was pulled. Needless to say, however, we would've pulled it anyways.
What does this mean? It means UIC is no longer available IN ANY FORM from this point forward. But as Rush has stated we plan to have another application designed from the ground up without the worry of some piss-ant lawyer breathing down our necks about "distributing applications without checking first that the program used was a legit copy. Ignorance of proper licensing is NO EXCUSE!". Honestly, how the hell are we supposed to check that crap anyways? Ask 'em? Psh....
So as per their "legal request", we'd also like to ask anyone who has dl'd UIC in ANY form to please remove it from their comp. Of course, we can't check this, but apparently they think we can. Next they'll be asking for everyone IP that's dl'd it. But no worries, that's what we call "invasion of privacy", so everyone who's gonna start fretting about that can relax.
Rush has sent a personal apology on the matter and we have met their requests on the matter to avoid "legal action". As of this point, we should be left alone and we can get back to work on important things, like deciding who's buying the next round of Poptarts!

This post is intended to be a "How-To" guide on using them.
NOTE: While most of the examples given are done using '/cast', these options are available to all the slash commands listed above.

Understand that most current macros will be obsolete in 2.0. Just about anything using CastSpellByName() or TargetUnit() will be non-functional in combat. The way a macro works now is like this: The first set of options is checked. If they are true, then the first spell is cast. If they are false, the next set of options is evaluated, and if true, the next spell is cast, and so on. However, you must keep in mind that only one spell will be cast. As soon as a set of options evaluates to true, the game will cast the corresponding spell, and that line of the macro will be done.

This will cast Greater Heal on a friendly target, or Smite if the player is in combat, or Mind Flay if the player is not in combat.

Paladin Auras are no longer treated as Stances by the Macro Option system.
Keep in mind that if you skip a stance (like a Warrior who never does the Defensive Stance quest) then your stance numbers will drop down, i.e. Berserker Stance would be stance 2.

This uses the '/' modifier to set up an 'or' condition. This macro will cast Mortal Strike if ANY of those types are equipped.
/cast [equipped:Shields] Shield Bash
This will cast Shield Bash if you have a shield equipped.
/cast [equipped:Shields, equipped:Daggers] Shield Slam
This will cast Shield slam only if you have a dagger AND a shield equipped.
/cast [noequipped:Shields, equipped:Off Hand] Rampage
This will cast Rampage if you do NOT have a shield equipped, AND you have something in the Off Hand slot. In theory, this macro will only activate if you are dual-wielding.

Button和Target目标选项
The option [button:
The default button is 1, the Left Mouse button. Note that when you activate a macro via a keybinding, it treats it like a Left Mouse button click. The numbered buttons are:
1 or LeftButton
2 or RightButton
3 or MiddleButton
4 or Button4
5 or Button5
... or any of the buttons remapped by the secure state headers. I don't know what this last bit means, to be honest, I'm simply quoting slouken.

Keep in mind that every spell has a default target of "target". So, for example:
/cast [help] Greater Heal
is the same as
/cast [target=target, help] Greater Heal
Unless you add in a [target=unit] option, the default will be your current target.
Possible examples of [target=unit]:
/cast [target=player] Flash Heal
This spell will always cast flash heal on yourself. Note that your current target will be unchanged.
/cast [help] Flash Heal; [target=targettarget] Flash Heal
This will cast Flash heal on your target if it is friendly, OR it will cast Flash Heal on your target's target.
/cast [help, combat] Flash Heal; [help, nocombat] Greater Heal; [target=targettarget, help, combat] Flash Heal; [target=player] Greater Heal
This will either 1) Cast flash heal if the target is friendly and you are in combat, 2) cast greater heal if the target is friendly and you are NOT in combat, 3) cast Flash Heal on your target's target if you are in combat and that unit is friendly, or if none of those conditions is true, it will cast Greater Heal on yourself.
If you use the unitid "none" it acts as if you had NO target. For example:
/cast [target=none] Dispel Magic
This would cast Dispel Magic and then ask for a target, regardless of whom you have targetted currently.

Castsequence
New Command: /castsequence

There's a new command in WoW 2.0, called /castsequence. It allows you to set up a series of spells to cast one after another, on each subsequent click of the macro. The format is:
/castsequence [
"Huh? Say what?"
It sets up a list of spells, and the first time you click the macro, it casts the first spell on the list. The next time you click it, it will cast the second spell, and so on. When it gets to the end, it goes back to the beginning.
"I'm still not following you."

Ok, lets say you are a mage. Sometimes you need to Frost Nova and Blink away quickly. You can't do them both at the same time, so you set up a sequence to do it!
/castsequence Frost Nova, Blink
And there you have it. The first time you click it, you Frost Nova, then you click again and Blink away.
"And what happens if Frost Nova is on cooldown? Does it Blink instead? Or does it just skip over Frost Nova and do Blink on the next click?"
Neither one. If the spell fails to cast (due to cooldown, out of range, not enough mana, whatever) then the sequence does NOT go to the next spell. The next time you click the macro, it'll try to Frost Nova again. (NOTE: A resist, dodge, parry, etc does NOT count as a failed cast. The spell/ability successfully went off, it just missed.)

You can still use all the same macro options (however, you cannot set options for each individual spell, only for the whole sequence. Sorry.)
/castsequence [combat] Frost Nova, Blink
"Eh, I was just kidding about that combat stuff. Ok, so what happens if I Frost Nova, and decide not to Blink away? The next time I want to Frost Nova, it'll be stuck on the 'Blink' setting?"
Not a problem. We'll use the new "reset" setting. Since Frost Nova has a cooldown of 24 seconds normally, we'll set the sequence to reset after 24 seconds of non-use.
/castsequence reset=24 Frost Nova, Blink
The first time you click your macro, it will Frost Nova. If you decide not to Blink, after 24 seconds it will reset back to Frost Nova. Since Frost Nova's cooldown also happens to be 24 seconds, it'll be ready to use again. Brilliant!

"Ok, that's great and all, but I'm actually a warlock, dude."
Of course you are. Well, as a warlock, I'm sure you cast the same 3 DoTs over and over again. Now you can set a sequence for those and save button space.
/castsequence Corruption, Immolate, Curse of Agony
There you go, now you can just push that button three times and cast all three DoTs.
"But what if it dies before I finish casting all three? I'm stuck at the end of the sequence again, and I don't wanna set no timer!"
That's ok, we can use the other options. If you set 'reset=target' then any time you change targets, it will reset the sequence back to the beginning. You can also set 'reset=combat', and the game will reset your sequence any time you leave combat. If you use the '/' operator (remember it, from earlier?) you can combine reset options!
/castsequence reset=combat/target Corruption, Immolate, Curse of Agony
There, now any time you change targets (like, if the old target is almost dead and you want to start on a new one), or any time you leave combat (perhaps the critter died before you finished casting all the dots), it resets your sequence for you, leaving you ready to start over.
